Current Projects

Valley Electrical Contracting (VEC) will be working with Sletten Construction and DLR Group on the Montana State Prison Housing Expansion. The $156-million project that kicked off in May of 2025 will construct new low-security inmate housing at the State Prison in Deer Lodge, MT.

This housing addition includes a 3000A distribution system serving multiple units with power derived from the existing private Medium Voltage utilities and a full emergency generator back up system with paralleling capabilities.

VEC will be a part of the project’s BIM modeling coordination team to plan installation efforts across MEP trades to meet the heightened project design requirements for security and safety with main building construct largely consisting of precast walls, hollow core panels, and CMU.

VEC project planning and management will also utilize the expertise and experience of our newly established preconstruction department, headed by Dominic Stellato, to continue to refine prefabrication and installation processes and standards which deliver maximum value to our customers. The project was bid by Brad Nalder, is managed by Sharon Foote, and the Lead Foreman on the project is Mike Gibson.

These new housing units will incorporate modern technology requiring an intricate and well executed electrical backbone to improve living conditions for inmates and enhance safety for staff.
